Okay, so these ‘midlife must-haves’ are basically things that make my midlife better. Admittedly, we’re not talking life or death here but each of these things has had a decidedly positive impact on me. They’ve definitely helped me to cope better during my midlife and perimenopause and I wouldn’t want to live without them during this stage of my life.
Handheld Folding Fan
Just look at that pretty little fan! Whenever I’m in the throes of a hot flush, I grab this folding bamboo and paper fan. It’s a simple, quick-fix solution when I’m at home and even when I’m out. (It’s small enough to pop into my handbag.)
My ModiBodi underwear
Modibodi is reusable and sustainable leak-proof underwear that “replaces the need for disposable products such as panty liners, tampons, pads, and incontinence products”. So I’m no longer caught unprepared by my irregular periods and I can feel totally confident when jumping on a trampoline (if I feel that way inclined). And the added bonus is that it’s better for the environment. Seriously, these are a game-changer. I love my Modibodi undies!

Benefit Gimme Brow+
Eyebrows can start thinning during midlife. This product saves me every time. Quick and easy to apply and very natural-looking.
Paula’s Choice Retinol
Retinol is the gold standard when it comes to skincare for middle-aged women. It’s been scientifically proven to prevent and reverse the signs of ageing. And this retinol by Paula’s Choice is my favourite of all the retinol products I’ve tried so far. It’s a great consistency, has a lovely smell and it works! I love this brand.
My Menopause Doctor
Dr Louise Newson is a GP & Menopause specialist and I’m so happy that I found her. Her website provides a wealth of knowledge about menopause and women’s health. She also has a podcast and an active Instagram account. I love that I can get “up-to-date, evidence-based information about menopause” from this fantastic resource. I’ve also downloaded her Balance app which allows you to track your symptoms, read lots of informative content and learn from others’ experiences. She’s also written a book!
So who wants to share their midlife must-haves next?
I had great fun putting together this little midlife must-have list so I thought I’d give all of you a chance to share your midlife must-haves too. I thought I’d make this my second “series”.
For those of you who have been reading my blog for a while, you might remember my first “series”, a Midlife Interview Series. I interviewed a few middle-aged readers and it was a lot of fun to hear about their midlife experiences. It’s always good to be able to learn from each other, and that was a popular series. So I’ve been wanting to do another one of these but hadn’t found anything that I thought might work, until now.
