My five favourites – February edition

my five favourites

Hi there!

Happy Leap Year! How’s your 2020 been going so far? We’ve been enjoying a particularly hot summer here in Auckland this year which has been wonderful. It’s meant that I’ve been living in dresses, swimming lots and not wearing much makeup (it’s too difficult to apply in this heat).

I want to share my February Favourites with you today. Jumping right in…

My Five Favourites for February

My Five Favourites

This month we binge-watched Shetland Seasons 1 and 2 – we were totally fascinated with the Shetland Island community and all the intrigue that went along with it. If you love British TV and are looking for a very watchable series, this one’s for you. We loved it and will continue to watch the next seasons soon.

And keeping with the British murder mystery theme we had going on during February, we also watched Dublin Murders. This series is based on Tana French’s novels In The Woods (which I’ve read and loved) and The Likeness. This one is a goodie. Great acting.

App Recommendations

Polysphere is a 3D puzzle game that not only trains your brain (got to keep mentally active during midlife) but is incredibly relaxing.
Book Recommendation

After reading eight books last month, this month I savoured reading only one book. My kids gave this to me for Christmas last year and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about all the fascinating and inspirational women included in this book. It’s a weighty read – that’s why it took me longer to finish. Even though each woman gets her own chapter (for the most part) making it great bite-sized reading, I felt that I needed time to absorb and fully appreciate all I was learning. This is an incredible reference book  (aff) that I hope my daughters (and son, actually) read one day.

My Five Favourites

I recently discovered Cassie Stephens on Instagram. She’s an art teacher, podcaster, blogger and video maker and she has some hysterical video posts on her account. She truly loves colour and her outfits keep me riveted. Definitely a fun follow.

My Five Favourites

The New Midlife Crisis. Another interesting podcast on goop. This book is definitely on my list of books to read.

I hope you find something you enjoy in My Five Favourites today! My Five Favourites will be back next month.
