Beauty Empties: Skincare (and SPF)

Neostrata – Triple Firming Neck Cream

This is my go-to neck product as it does everything I need. My skin texture and elasticity have markedly improved since using this product. Next stop – Profilo.

La Roche-Posay – Anthelios Ultra 50+ SPF

I trust La Roche-Posay product formulas so when I say I may not repurchase this product, it’s only because I didn’t enjoy the thick texture of the cream. I prefer a cream that is easier to apply and absorbs quickly. This is a great SPF, though.

Skin Rocks – The Cream Cleanser

This soothing yet effective cleanser is brilliant. It’s gentle, removes impurities and makeup, and produces hydrated, refreshed skin. Being a luxurious cream, it doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight or dry after use.  I appreciate that at my age.

Sunday Riley – Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment

I highly rate this product. It’s the perfect texture, and it works well. I can see a difference in the radiance of my skin after using this product for a while. I will reorder this one.

Naturium – The Glow Getter Multi-Oil Body Wash

The Glow Getter Multi-Oil Body Wash transforms from a luscious oil consistency to a gentle lather and cleans without stripping the moisture from your skin. My skin felt smooth and hydrated after using it.

Medik8 – C-Tetra

As much as I don’t enjoy using a pipette, this product works. And a little goes a long way – to get great results. When I used this vitamin C, my skin looked more radiant than usual.

Skin Rocks – The Moisturiser

This is my favourite moisturiser right now. It has a beautiful whipped texture, smells amazing and leaves my skin well-hydrated. I wish Skin Rocks products were stocked in New Zealand!

Skin Rocks – Retinol 2

I trusted Caroline Hiron’s Skin Rocks formulas before I bought the products. But I rate her retinol 2 highly after two months of using it. My skin looks radiant, I haven’t developed any further lines and wrinkles and the lines I had are less apparent.

Vieve – Skin Nova Instant Radiance Primer

I love this primer so much. In summer, I often bypass foundation in favour of this product because it makes my skin look glowy and even. I’ve got a travel-size tube for my upcoming holiday and will reorder a big tube on my return.

Hourglass – Unlocked Mascara

They don’t call this “Instant Extensions Mascara” for nothing! This tubing mascara gives you long lashes immediately. And being tubing mascara means you won’t be left looking like a raccoon at the end of the day or after rubbing your eyes. This is a huge win for me, being a contact lens wearer too. I’ve tried many other mascaras, but this is my favourite.

Anastasia – Clear Brow Gel

This is a great way to keep your brows in place for the entire day. Being the only clear brow gel I’ve tried so far, I may try other brands in future. But this product does the job.

Haircare

Redken – Acidic Bonding Concentrate Shampoo

I’ve used a few different shampoos and conditioners over the years, and this one is brilliant. Featuring Citric Acid, this shampoo contains a concentrated bonding care complex that reinforces weakened bonds within your hair to improve hair strength. My hair hasn’t felt this strong and healthy in years! This pH-balancing shampoo is specifically formulated with an acidic pH to defend against the negative effects of hair colouring, styling tools, and even water. So if you colour your hair and use styling tools, this one would suit you.

Redken – Acidic Bonding Concentrate Conditioner

Like the shampoo, the Citric Acid (an alpha hydroxy acid) in this conditioner, helps reinforce weakened bonds and improve hair strength. According to Redken, their Bonding Care Complex + Citric Acid works at a molecular level and penetrates the cuticle capturing metal ions and reinforcing weakened bonds. This conditioner does magical things to my hair. Yes, it hydrates, but it actively feels like it’s doing so much more than that. I can’t see myself changing my shampoo and conditioner any time soon.
