My skincare empties from the past few months

Here are my skincare empties from the last few months – especially for my skincare lovers.

I’ve wanted to do one of these posts for a long while now so that’s the reason this post features so many products. I started collecting my empties in a small box thinking I’d write and publish a quick post but next thing, almost a year had passed and that box was overflowing, so I knew I needed to get onto writing this post sooner rather than later. In future, I’ll aim to publish these skincare ’empties’ posts more frequently so they’ll feature far fewer products.

Okay, kicking off…

Skincare Empties

Trinny London Retinal Serum – Overnight Sensation – I enjoyed using this retinal serum and would recommend it for those who regularly use retinoids. I also love that you can buy refills for this product because it saves money and packaging.

Paula’s Choice – 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant – I have used this liquid exfoliant a lot over the years, but I get more benefits from an AHA at this stage of my life. The BHA is fantastic for younger skin or those who suffer from breakouts and congestion.

Vieve – Skin Nova – I love this primer because it plumps, hydrates and leaves my skin glowing beautifully. So if you’re looking for an instant boost, this product is for you.

Paula’s Choice – Advanced Smoothing Treatment 10% AHA – This is one of the AHAs I tried after searching for a new AHA serum. Great for exfoliation.

Then I Met You – Living Cleansing Balm – Ooh, this exceptional and luxurious balm melts away makeup and SPF easily.  I tend to use it as my first cleanser at night. I will reorder in future because I love it.

La Roche-Posay – Toleraine Sensitive Crème – This is a great go-to moisturiser that does the job and it’s a great price too so I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a new moisturiser.

Cleansers

Cleansers Empties

Biossance – Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil – I like to have an oil or a balm as my first cleanser at night. They’re good at getting rid of makeup and SPF effectively. This cleansing oil is one of my favourite oil cleansers, and if you haven’t tried Biossance yet, I’d recommend trying this product.

Oskia – Renaissance Cleansing Gel – This cleansing gel is such a treat! It has a beautiful scent, feels luxurious and works so well. I have bought this many times and will continue repurchasing it.

Glossier – Milk Jelly Cleanser – I was so excited when Glossier started shipping to New Zealand recently that I bought a few of their products to try them. I put this creamy gel cleanser in my shower and enjoyed using it as a quick refresh in the morning.

Biossance – Squalane + Amino Aloe Gentle Cleanser – This is another Biossance winner product because it works so well. I tend to use this cleanser in the morning too—frequent repurchase.

Serums

Serums Empties

Paula’s Choice – Omega+ Complex Serum – This is a great product if you’re looking to strengthen and repair your skin barrier. So if you’ve overdone your actives, this may be a good product to address that sensitivity. It’s an ‘extra’ so if you want a simple routine, this one is probably not for you.

Medik8 – C-Tetra – This gentle vitamin C antioxidant serum helps with radiance, fine lines and wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation. I use my vitamin C in the mornings.

Neostrata – Triple Firming Neck Cream – My neck looks smoother after using this product for over six months, so I don’t think I’ll stop reordering this product any time soon.

Sunday Riley – Lactic Acid Treatment – This has become one of the all-star products I have in my routine. It smells good, goes on smoothly, and I can see and feel the results!

Vichy – Minéral 89 is great if your skin feels or looks dehydrated. I picked up this bottle when I was in Europe last September and I have only just finished it.

Medik8 – Crystal Retinal 10 (2) – I’ve been using retinol for a long time and have worked my way up to Retinal 10 in this range. I love and trust this product and can’t say enough about its efficacy. This brand is a favourite too. I use this at night, before a moisturiser.

Sunday Riley – CEO Afterglow –  This was part of a small gift set I picked up before Christmas – to see what it was like. And the verdict is – I love it. Will reorder.

SPF / Other

SPF Empties

Avène – Eau Thermale – I bought this to use on my summer holiday last year and it was a treat to spray on my face when those temperatures got way up there.

Trinny London – BFF Cream – This cream is fantastic because not only does it smooth your complexion but it contains SPF so you’re covered if you’re heading out for a quick walk or don’t want a big makeup look.

Trinny London – Moisturiser SPF 50+ – This product isn’t sold to the New Zealand market, sadly (because of different SPF ingredient rules) but I bought a tube in London last year. Trinny’s products are easy to like and use. And this one also saves time because you’re getting a moisturiser and SPF rolled into one.

Ultra Violette – Supreme Screen SPF 50+ – This brand is a winner and this product is one that I will reorder. It’s easy to apply, absorbs easily and doesn’t leave a white cast on the skin.

Paula’s Choice – Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense 30+ – Here’s another time-saving product I like – it’s good skincare and an SPF rolled into one.

Makeup

Laneige – Lip Sleeping Mask – Using this product has become a nightly ritual for me. I cannot recommend this enough. Buy it.

Giorgio Armani – Luminous Silk Foundation – This is my first choice of foundation, hands down. It’s great for mature skin, easy to apply, and instantly gives my skin an even, radiant look.

Charlotte Tilbury – Hollywood Flawless Filter – I use this when I don’t want to wear much makeup but feel I need more than my BFF cream. Will reorder.

Kosas – Lip Oil – This lip oil is another repurchase because it’s all gloss without the stickiness. I use ‘Unhooked’ because it’s such a versatile colour. I often reach for it during the day instead of lipstick.
