My Top 7 Beauty Products At the Moment
Eve Lom Cleanser
I found this cleanser very soothing and hydrating which is always a bonus now that I’m middle-aged and experiencing drier skin.
After massaging the oily, grainy textured cleaner into your skin, you drape a muslin cloth soaked in hot water over your face for a few seconds. Repeat this process twice to open your pores, getting the full benefit of this cleanser. You then clean all the product off your face and use a cold muslin cloth to close your pores.
Full disclosure: While I loved the feeling and results of this luxurious cleanser, I found the whole process a little laborious. When I’m tired, I want to wash my face quickly and get to bed. But I would still recommend this product for those times when you have more time and energy.
Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation
This foundation is neither matt nor dewy but appears more natural-looking when applied to your skin. Also, I find that I don’t need too much product to get good, even coverage. But I do need to prep my skin beforehand, otherwise, it can look a little dry later in the day. I would recommend this product, but I’m still looking for a more perfectly suited foundation for my skin. I feel as if I haven’t found THE ONE yet.
Mac Prep + Prime
A lot of people rave about this Prep and Prime product from Mac so I had to see whether the hype was justified. And I think it is. I only use it to set my makeup after application because I have another primer that I’m using at the moment. As soon as I finish that primer I’ll be using this one before and after. But I feel that my makeup lasts much longer since I’ve started using this product. Recommend.
bareMinerals Mineral Concealer
As a middle-aged woman, I love that this product contains a serum. So, not only am I getting a concealer for the dark rings under my eyes, but this product is benefitting my skin too. Double bonus. Another reason I love this product is that it doesn’t sit in my fine lines, accentuating them. It goes in smoothly and dulls my dark rings, leaving a bright, natural-looking finish. Highly recommend.
Dr Dennis Gross – Ferulic + Retinol Anti-Aging Moisturizer
Dr Dennis Gross is a dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon with a practice in NYC. He is recognized for his experience in skin cancer research and has developed an extensive skincare range of products. I, therefore, feel confident that this moisturizer is super beneficial. I also love the glossiness of this product. Recommend.
L’Occitane Immortelle Divine Youth Cream
Now that I’m middle-aged, my skin is unmistakably drier, thinner and less elastic than it was in my youth. I have my share of fine lines, creases and wrinkles. But I’ve learnt that to slow down the accumulation of more fine lines and wrinkles, it helps to keep your skin well hydrated. This ‘Youth Cream’ is one of the ways I’m doing this. I feel as if I’m truly treating my skin when I use it. Recommend.
RevitaBrow Advanced Eyebrow Conditioner
I’m finding that my eyebrows seem to be getting thinner and thinner the older I get. And I didn’t over-pluck them when I was younger, so this thinning is owing to ageing.
Whenever I get my brows shaped and tinted I make sure that my skincare specialist knows that I want my eyebrows to be as thick as possible. And over the years a couple of them have recommended that I try this product to stimulate additional brow growth. I must say, I was a little sceptical that it would work, to be honest. I mean, there aren’t any true miracle products that don’t cost an arm and a leg (and sometimes those don’t truly work either). But about a month ago I decided to give it a go and I bought it! I’m happy to report that I’m already seeing some fine hair growing.
I was told that it can take up to three months to see any real results because it all depends on your body and hair growth cycles. But so far, so good. I’ll keep you posted as to how this progresses over the next two months, but for now, I recommend this product because I’ve seen some growth after just one month.
