My five favourites – the May edition

my five favourites

Hello – it’s My Five Favourites time again. Um, how is it the end of May already?! We’re going to our son’s annual House Music school event tonight which is always lots of fun, so I’m off to get ready.

But before I go, I wanted to share my five favourites for May:

My Five Favourites

Never having watched Line of Duty before, we devoured all six seasons during May! And we loved it. Have you watched this British police drama?

And now we’re watching The Bridge starring Diane Kruger and set in the US and Mexico. This is a similar programme concept to The Tunnel, where a dead body is placed on the borderline between two countries and, therefore, requires the police forces of both countries to work together to solve the crime.

I also watched Nomadland. This movie tells the story of Fern (Frances McDormand) who packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad, after the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada where she lived. This film won Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress at the Academy Awards this year. Fascinating movie.

Book Recommendation

I’ve been reading again and loving it! Isn’t it funny how you can go through patches when you just don’t have any inclination to read? Here’s what I’ve been enjoying lately (loved them all):

PS Have you read the bestseller, The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse? I got it for Mother’s Day and it’s such a cute book.

My Five Favourites

New follow suggestions for you: Naomi Potter | Menopause Doctor and Nigel Denby | Menopause Dietitian. Because they’re both very informative accounts.

My Five Favourites

My podcast picks for this month are:

Breaking Beauty Podcast – “Take it to the Tits!” & more “anti-ageing” skin commandments with Caroline Hirons. I always love listening to Caroline’s recommendations because she’s so transparent and knowledgeable so I jumped at this one.

Newson Health Podcast – Trying to right 20 years of misinformation and hysteria about HRT with Professor Rob Langer. This was a phenomenal podcast and I’d highly recommend everyone listen to it because it covers exactly how and why HRT got such a bad reputation and is seen as dangerous – and what the true facts really are. A must-listen.

My Five Favourites

The mental health symptoms of menopause that don’t get mentioned enough – because we can’t know too much.

And that’s all for this month’s edition of My five favourites. I’ll be back with the June edition at the end of next month. Check the ‘Regulars’ dropdown menu for all of My five favourites posts, if you’re looking for more suggestions.
