My Five Favourites

Hi there! Did you have a good weekend? Did you finish the TV series you were watching or the book you were reading? Well, in case you did and have…

Here are My Five Favourites for this week…

My Five Favourites

If you haven’t watched Unbelievable yet, I would highly recommend you get onto that. Because it’s an incredible crime story! This miniseries is based on the true story of a girl who was raped. It covers the emotions of rape victims so brilliantly and highlights the weaknesses of the criminal and justice systems when dealing with the sensitive subject of rape. I particularly love how this series showcases two very different ways that the police force can handle rape victims. And I also love how the two female detectives in the show bring kindness, vulnerability and a realness – something that is often lacking in male-dominated crime shows. Very well done.

Have you ever worried about whether your favourite products contain toxic ingredients? Well, then you need the Think Dirty app. Because this app makes it easy to see whether your household, beauty and personal care products are potentially dangerous for you. All you have to do is scan the product barcode or search the database by product name and this app will rank its ingredients on a Dirty Meter. If the product isn’t on their database you can submit it for consideration. Make informed decisions on all the products you purchase and use. Very handy.

My Five Favourites

Ask Again, Yes by Mary Beth Keane. This novel follows the lives of two neighbouring families whose lives become forever intertwined. All of the characters in this story add to this most intriguing tale – from the two husbands who are both NYPD cops to their fascinating wives and the relationship between two of their children. I loved this book and became quite attached to the main characters because of the depth of this storyline. Ugh, so good.

Lost In History is an Instagram account that is “dedicated to the wonderful fashion / makeup / people / culture of the 20th century”. I love seeing their photos from the not too distant past because it gives me a feeling of happy nostalgia. That’s why this account has been a very pleasant discovery for me. It could be for you too.

My Five Favourites

After reading Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb (which I recommended two weeks ago), I happened upon Dax Shepherd’s Armchair Expert podcast interview of Lori Gottlieb. And if you’ve read the book, you’ll love listening to Lori chat about it and much, much more. I find therapy fascinating. How about you?

I hope you’re enjoying My Five Favourites series.
