ICYMI – The Midlife Edition 1

Reading on phone and laptop

ICYMI – The Midlife Edition! We have so much information coming at us from newspaper apps, social media apps and the internet these days, that the sheer volume of it can leave us feeling overwhelmed. Curation posts are, therefore, a great way to keep up with what’s happening without suffering information overload.

So I’ve endeavoured to scour the internet to find reliable, fact- and science-driven sources and bring the most relevant, topical midlife articles to you, in this new series. I will also include lighter snippets and anything new that I come across on the internet, that may interest midlife women.

ICYMI (in case you missed it) – The Midlife Edition

“Menopause is a renovation on the brain” – Dr Lisa Mosconi. (The Guardian)

In her new book, The Menopause Brain, Dr Mosconi presents the neuroscience perspective of menopause. Much has been written about how menopause affects the body. This book gets more into how it affects the brain. I find it very encouraging that we’re discovering more about menopause as more research is done.

There’s been much talk lately about whether we need to take supplements during perimenopause and menopause. Here’s a great article to answer that question. (Balance)

And while we’re on the subject  (it’s a hot topic right now), here’s what Dr Jen Gunter thinks about supplements. (The Vajenda)

In case you were wondering – Does yoga count as strength training? (Self)

Dr Louise Newson published a new book called The Definitive Guide to the Perimenopause and Menopause. (Revised and updated.)

If you’re feeling lonely, here are 101 ideas for meeting people, making connections and maintaining friendships. (A social life, with friends)

I’ve recently joined a crafting circle and look forward to entering my crafting coven era.  Why crafting hobbies are a good idea in midlife. (Self)

A stylish hoodie you didn’t know you needed. This is a good basic to wear to the gym, as leisure wear or as part of a casual outfit.

And if you’re looking for some exercise inspiration that you can do at home. Here’s a 20-minute full-body workout. It includes an easy-to-follow video! (Women’s Health)

Those reading my blog for a while may remember I had a similar series in 2019  called Bits and Bobs. This is a revised version of that series. I hope you enjoy it. You can find this post and all future ICYMI posts under RESOURCES in the menu bar at the top of this page.
