It’s at times like these that I wish I had a team of writers to help me here at A Modern Midlife.
Because I think I’m going through a seasonal transition period, no, wait – it’s PERIMENOPAUSE!
Whatever it is, my energy levels are fluctuating daily and I’m tired, but hey, look at me pushing through with the 5 things I tried and loved in September.
GHD Creative Curl Wand
NZ$295
I bit the bullet and bought this Creative Curl wand and I’m so happy I did. I’d been using my GHD straightener to do my curls before but this wand is amazing and my curls stay in for so much longer now. If you’re wanting that beach wavy curl look, you will love this curling wand.
Jo Loves Pomelo
NZ$75.00
If you’re looking for a fresh summery fragrance and you love the smell of grapefruit, try this one. I love it and know it’s going to be one of my go-to summer fragrances this year.
The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O’Farrell
NZ$27.49
I couldn’t put this book down. Set in Renaissance Italy, this book follows the life of Lucrezia de Medici who lived in Florence in the 1550s. When Lucrezia’s older sister dies on the eve of her wedding, Lucrezia is forced to take her place and marry the duke of Ferrara, Moderna and Regio. Her only role is to provide an heir and when this doesn’t happen as quickly as everyone would like it to, Lucrezia starts fearing for her life. If you like a good historical novel, I think you’ll enjoy this one.
My Five Favourites – the September issue
Only Murders in the Building Season 2
American Mystery Comedy-Drama
If you haven’t watched season 1 of this show yet, I’d recommend that you get in on this series. I was intrigued to watch this show when it first came out – mostly to see how Selena Gomes worked with Steve Martin and Martin Short. Verdict? I really enjoyed it. And season 2 is even better! I was excited to hear that there will be a season 3 too. Have you watched this one?

$58.95
Downlights NZ is a New Zealand-owned and operated fragranced soy candle company. They make hand-poured candles and the entire manufacturing process they use supports the development of a variety of workplace skills for people with Down syndrome and intellectual or learning disabilities.
The white tea and ginger fragrances are sublime! I’ve already ordered another one.
