We’re in the thick of winter here in Auckland and for much of this month, the wind has been howling and it’s been cold, wet and grey. So to cheer myself up, I thought I’d share 5 things I tried and loved in August.
Soy Face Cleanser by Fresh
From NZ$26
I’d heard so much about this product and everyone seemed to really rate it and love the price point. So I bought my first tube this month – and wow, this is a winner. It’s got a beautiful fresh aloe vera/cucumber smell and the gel is easy to use, lathering up into a great consistency. I use it in the morning and as one of the cleansers in my double cleanse at night. My face feels super clean afterwards.
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
NZ$31
I loved the main character in this book, Elizabeth Zott. Set in the 1960s, this book displays the status of women back then and the difficulties Elizabeth encountered during her career as a scientist and then as the host of a cooking tv show. (Some of them were truly shocking.) Her strength and intelligence are inspiring. I didn’t want this book to end.
My Five Favourites – the August edition
The Undeclared War
British Drama on TVNZ
I found this show incredibly captivating. It’s about a team of security and intelligence analysts who find themselves in a precarious situation when a series of Russian cyber attacks threaten war between the UK and Russia. The storyline sounds cheekily similar to what is thought to have happened in the US recently. And the acting is superb. Loved this series.
Jimmy Choo EDT
From NZ$109
Purchasing a new fragrance can be intimidating so when I smell a lovely scent on someone, I immediately ask them what they’re wearing. Of course, you never know how it’s going to smell on you, but at least I have then narrowed down my options when I next go fragrance shopping. This one is my new favourite.
Paula’s Choice 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant
$32.00
I still love my 2% BHA exfoliant, but I wanted to try this AHA one too. I now interchange my AHA and BHA and it’s working very nicely. (Check out my post all about acid exfoliants HERE.)
