My five favourites – the August edition

my five favourites

Hi friends. How have you all been? We’re back in Level 4 lockdown here in New Zealand which has taken a bit of getting used to after living very ‘normally’ for so long without Covid in our community.

So, with this lockdown and it being winter, it’s meant that we’ve been spending lots of time indoors lately. Eating, watching TV, reading and scrolling on our phones. As you do.

So here are My five favourites for August:

My Five Favourites

Ted Lasso Season 2 is here and I’m still loving this cute show. Funny how we’ve gone old-school with one programme coming out every week, but I’m kind of loving it.

And speaking of drip-feeding us with one programme a week – we’ve also been watching 9 Perfect Strangers as it comes out every week. And I’m totally hooked too. There are some great actors in this one and even though I’ve read the book, this brain fog of mine means that I can’t remember what actually happened so it’s as if it’s all new to me!

And then there’s Mr Corman – a slightly wacky choice, but it seems to be building into something so we’re in.

Book Recommendation

This month I’ve read two goodies – Project Hail Mary and The Paper Palace. Next up: The Reading List.

Looking for a laugh? Then I’d recommend following Teenager Pro Tips and Jim Gaffigan.

My podcast pick for this month is:

The Shift: Dr Jen Gunter on menopause, mental health and why we all need a Meno-party.

My Five Favourites

The Soul-Sucking Stages of Grief of a Mom Whose Child is Leaving for College. (McSweeneys)

The 5 Things We Should All Know About The Menopause, But Don’t. (Vogue)

And that’s all for this month’s edition of My five favourites. In the meantime, check the ‘Regulars’ dropdown menu for all of My five favourites posts, if you’re looking for more suggestions.
