As we enter the festive season, which may include more lunch and dinner invitations than usual, I thought I’d put together a post with a few thoughtful and useful gifts that any hostess would love.
Yes, a bottle of wine, flowers, and chocolates are always appreciated. But I’ve chosen a few different hostess gift suggestions that I think could elicit a real wow.

When thinking of what to buy (or make) to thank a hostess for their hospitality and generosity, we should think about what that hostess loves and whether your gift would be useful and/or beautiful. Ideally, it would be both beautiful and useful.
I also try to be mindful of not adding to anyone’s clutter, so I tend to buy something they will use and enjoy (like lovely serviettes or flowers) and/or something they can eat or drink.

A few other thoughtful hostess gifts
1. If you have time, you could bake a batch of cookies and attach a handwritten copy of the recipe and a cookie cutter.
2. You could make or buy fudge or doughnuts and wrap them in a (new) dishtowel, adding a pretty bow.
3. You could buy a small bunch of flowers, cut them and place them in a vase which you can fill with water when you get there. This will save the hostess the hassle of finding a vase and putting the flowers into it when she has other things to do.
4. Purchase a small, inexpensive clay pot, fill it with matches and stick the strike pad (from the matchbox) underneath it. This makes a cute little match container that’s useful and would look great next to candles.
Have you ever received anything you loved so much that you’ve never forgotten the sentiment of it?
