I love skincare products! You might even say I’ve got a slight obsession with them. Ever since I started noticing fine lines on my face, I’ve been trying various skincare products to find the best ones to slow down the signs of ageing.
I realise that by the time the fine lines have appeared, there isn’t much you can do to reverse this. But you can invest in your skin so that the ageing process slows down somewhat. By getting rid of dead skin cells, keeping your skin hydrated and nourished, and protecting your skin – you can ensure that your skin looks its best. And that’s what I’m aiming for in my quest for the best beauty products.
As mentioned in my post, What you need to know about skincare for maturing skin, the most important ingredients for maturing skin are:
- vitamin C
- vitamin E
- ferulic acid
- vitamin A (retinol)
- hyaluronic acid
- collagen
- niacinamide
- hydroxy acids
- sunscreen
Yes, that’s quite a list of ingredients to include in a skincare routine and it can seem a little overwhelming. But there are products out there that contain a combination of some of these ingredients which certainly helps. Also, it’s recommended to use certain ingredients in the morning (vitamin C) and others at night (retinol) – which would simplify your morning and evening routines. For example, I use my vitamin C, niacinamide, moisturizer and sunscreen in the morning. And then at night, I alternate between my vitamin A and hydroxy acids, finishing off with a moisturizer with hyaluronic acid.

In conclusion
It’s especially important to thoroughly cleanse, nourish and protect your skin during midlife to combat slow skin cell turnover and loss of elasticity and collagen. We might have fine lines, wrinkles and slightly saggy skin, but that doesn’t have to stop us from ensuring that it’s bright and glowing.
Also, when you have clean, bright and glowing skin, your makeup application is much easier and looks much better too.
Do you have a product that you swear by and immediately repurchase when it’s finished? And have you tried any new products lately that you love?
