Happy New Year!

happy new year

It’s been a while since I’ve been here  –  HAPPY NEW YEAR!  I hope 2022 is treating you well so far.

Turns out that I really needed a break from my laptop at the end of last year.  I didn’t feel inclined to open it at all over the holiday season  –  I didn’t read other blogs, do any more online shopping or even write anything. In fact, if I’m absolutely honest, it felt as if all I did was eat and think about eating over the past few weeks! Anyway, instead of feeling guilty about having a bit of a break, I embraced it. And it’s been fantastic.

But this week I feel like I’m ready to dip my toes in the water again. So I thought I’d do a little 2021 round-up before I get going (properly) this year. Here are a few photos from last year:

Back in January 2021, we flew down to the South Island and had the most fabulous holiday in the Abel Tasman National Park.

In February, I cut my hair short! It was quite a big change for me, but I felt like I needed it. (Due to subsequent lockdowns and not being able to go to the hairdresser very often, I have now grown it out again! Ah, well, a change is as good as a holiday, isn’t it? Um, no! I’d much prefer a holiday!)

We did quite a few cycles and hikes during 2021 because well, travelling any further afield isn’t possible right now. And being out in nature is so good for a healthy mindset, right?

And like so many others around the world, we experienced Van Gogh Alive.

I also took my girls to Happy Place.

Our firstborn graduated from University. And has subsequently got her first office job.

I fell in love with Dunkin Donuts munchkins!

I bought this brilliant LED mask and spent many evenings watching TV like this:

We flew down to the South Island again – this time to go skiing at Cardrona.

Oh, and I started my Invisalign journey:

And continued to enjoy my flower subscription.

There was a lot of bad news, stress, anxiety, fear and illness going on around the world during 2021, but looking back, I realise that there was also so much goodness, fun, hope and positivity.

Now onto the new year

I started 2022 feeling a little overwhelmed, and pressured to make new goals, set plans into motion and do some decluttering. But I then decided to stop, take a breath, take control and take it easy. (See what I did there? Um, sorry. :D)

I’ve been spending these first days of 2022 reading, slowly clarifying my plans for this year and giving myself lots of grace. So far, so good.

Wishing you all a good 2022 ahead. (I’d like to say ‘excellent’, but we all know that we’ve got to be realistic these days.) x
