Bits and Bobs #4

Bits and Bobs

It’s Bits and Bobs time again! How are you all doing? I feel a little like I’m treading water at the moment. Living in the southern hemisphere, I am not benefitting from the whole ‘fresh start of a new school year’ thing. Instead, I feel as if I’m biding my time until the weather warms up.

I realise that’s not a very positive way of looking at life and that I should be out there enjoying the first signs of Spring, but I’m feeling a bit flat at the moment.

I am spending my time chipping away at my to-do list so that at least I feel as if I’m achieving something at the moment. And I refuse to feel defeated. At my age, I understand that this is simply a phase and that it’ll pass and I’ll be my usual, upbeat self again soon. And I love that about midlife. Do you ever feel like this?

Anyway, here are a few articles that I wanted to share with you this week:

  1. Wanting to find out more about menopause? Check out this post that lists 11 books about menopause.
  2. Have you watched the movie, Gloria Bell? Read about this midlife crisis drama featuring a middle-aged woman who is rediscovering herself. I loved this movie because I could often relate to how Gloria feels. Also, midlife is an infinitely interesting phase and Gloria is a fascinating character.
  3. Does the concept of “menopausal syndrome” aim to weaken women during a strong period of our lives? Read about the secret power of menopause in this engaging article.
  4. In this time of #MeToo, anger is trending among older women.

I hope you’re having a good weekend wherever you are. Last night I started watching the series Stranger Things (I know, I’m super late to this party. Have you watched it?) And tonight I’m taking two of my kids out for dinner which is always fun. What are you up to this weekend?
