We were recently invited to enjoy a luxury weekend away in New Zealand. And wow, what a spoil that was. Because our destination is one of those truly exceptional places in the world.
So, if you’re planning a holiday in New Zealand, this place is well worth looking at.
We started our adventure by flying from Auckland airport to Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands, which only took about an hour in one of these cool planes.
On arrival, we shuttled to our home for the weekend – the magnificent, Kauri Cliffs.
This is the homestead on this vast property, with a world-renowned golf course in front of it:
And this was the view from our villa:
Kauri Cliffs is a working farm with sheep and cattle, luxury accommodations and a pristine golf course with sensational views. The main homestead houses sitting rooms, restaurant dining rooms and a golf shop. A gorgeous pool and hot tub overlooking the coastline and a fire pit area that would be perfect for sundowners, complete the area. Oh wait, there’s also a spa tucked away in a little forest close to the main house, where you can enjoy all sorts of lovely treatments!
We stayed in one of the big villas with three other couples and were blown away by how gorgeous the place was. The villa is not only beautiful but it has everything you need. Some villas sleep up to 6 guests and others up to 11 guests. There are also smaller suites available that are closer to the homestead. These sleep up to 2, up to 3 and up to 5 guests.
Each villa has two golf carts to get around the property. And if you need a golf cart at any time, they are readily available at the main homestead or golf shop.
While my husband played golf on Saturday, I went on a guided walk around the property. We walked through a Kauri forest, home to an approximately 800-year-old Kauri tree. And then did a coastal walk down to the pink beach. The views are incredible and I must have taken about a thousand photos. There were also options to go beach fishing, kayaking and horse riding, if walking or golf didn’t float your boat.

A weekend was enough time to enjoy this beautiful spot’s facilities and activities. But this would be a fantastic place to relax for longer too. Whether you’re looking for a romantic weekend away or somewhere to take your whole family, this would be a fabulous place to go.
