7 new things I tried in May 2023 (some were amazing)

new things in may

Here are the 7 new things that I tried and enjoyed back in May. You’ll see a good few skincare products again this month. And if you don’t know this about me by now, it’s probably becoming clearer over time that I LOVE ALL THE SKINCARE! (Hope you do too.)

The 7 new things I tried and really enjoyed last month…

Trinny London Overnight Sensation Retinal Serum

Trinny London Retinal

This retinal serum is a favourite of Caroline Hirons who knows her skincare, so I ordered this to try out when I finished my Medik8 retinal. And I’ve been very impressed so far. Another good thing about this product is that you can order refills which is great from a sustainability POV and it brings the cost down (always a bonus). Rating: Amazing.

Cosmetic Bag

I’ll admit, I’ve been seeing this cosmetic/toiletry bag everywhere lately. And everyone is lauding its super clever design. Apparently, it can hold so many items. And so, after checking out how compact it is and all its little compartments, I had to get one. I’m looking forward to using it on our upcoming trip.

Silo TV series

5 new things

Silo is an American science fiction dystopian TV series following the lives of a community of 10,000 who live in a huge underground silo. They’re expected to follow a strict code of regulations that they’re told were put into place to protect them. But something is amiss and certain people start questioning what’s really going on. We’re finding it a fascinating idea and eagerly await each episode every week. Season 2 is apparently in the making too which is good news.

Anti-Slip Sleeve Holders

new things from may

Yes, you could simply use hair ties or elastic bands but I opted for a pack of these anti-slip sleeve holders. They work really well and the pack I bought come in gold, silver and black to match whichever jacket you wear with them. A very handy and affordable purchase which I’m very pleased that I bought.

La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra Facial Sunscreen SPF50+

SPF

La Roche-Posay is a great brand that’s easy to find and affordable – as skincare and SPF brands go. A skincare expert whose opinion I value highly, rates this SPF so I added it to my bag as a trusty sunblock for our upcoming summer holiday.

Wiser Than Me podcast

podcast recommendation

Julia Louis-Dreyfus makes me laugh and comes across as a fun-loving, warm and friendly person in her new podcast. She’s interviewed a range of interesting women so far – my favourites have been Jane Fonda and Isabel Allende. This podcast is a great listen – check it out here.

Paula’s Choice Resist Advanced Smoothing Treatment 10% AHA

AHA recommendation

As much as I love my Paula’s Choice 2% BHA, mature skin needs AHA. And this AHA contains lactic, glycolic and malic acids – all the really good ones for our age. It comes in this bottle (see above) with a dropper so it’s easy to use the correct amount. And you don’t need much. Rating: Amazing.

And those are the 7 new things I tried last month – it was a particularly good month for trying new things.
