Instagram accounts for middle-aged women

I’m totally here for Instagram accounts for middle-aged women.

I’ll admit – I spend a lot of time on Instagram. Besides keeping up with family and friends, I also follow many outstanding Instagram accounts for midlife-aged women that are super helpful and informative.

There are so many inspirational middle-aged women on that app who love fashion, beauty, travelling, fitness and so much more – and I learn so much from them!

Here are the ones I love the most –

Health and Perimenopause

menopause_doctor  – Dr Louise Newson is a GP & Menopause specialist based in the UK. She set up a clinic for women to be able to get evidence-based treatment for perimenopause and menopause which is now the biggest menopause clinic in the world. She also created the balance app, which has a wealth of information for middle-aged women. Dr Newson also works as an  Advisor for the NHS’s National Menopause Programme.

drjengunter  – Dr Jen Gunter is an OB/GYN in the US. She is the author of The Vagina Bible and The Menopause Manifesto and is strong when it comes to debunking myths about women’s health.

drnaomipotter – Dr Naomi Potter is a Menopause doctor and author.

menopausedietplan – Dietitians Elizabeth Ward and Hillary Wright give science-based nutrition advice for perimenopause and beyond.

langernutrition – Abby Langer is not solely an account for midlife women, but she calls out inaccuracies in the media and states clear messages that are scientifically correct. I include her here because middle-aged women are the target of many companies who want to make a fast buck off our insecurities and confusion around the science.

mariashriver – Maria Shriver is a hugely positive influence in women’s health, with a fantastic weekly newsletter that brings pro-ageing and positivity to the forefront. She is also an advocate for the women’s alzheimers movement and often brings that news to my attention.

Lifestyle Instagram Accounts for middle-aged women

ohhelloperry – a menopause community app.

themidult – a fun account that often has me laughing with a community of like-minded women.

genxwoman – a fun and informative account by Gen X women, for Gen X women.

menopausematters – a website and magazine’s Instagram account that provides up-to-date, accurate information about menopause.

hellogloria – Gloria is a weekly newsletter and media company for midlife women.

girlsgone50 – a community for women who refuse to let age define them.

theproagewoman – Meri Frischman founded this community about woman and ageing.

tamsenfadal – Tamsen is a menopause advocate with so much great advice.

Fashion

andbloom – Denise Boomkens is pro-ageing and inspires middle-aged women with her storytelling portraits, photos, quotes and general sentiments. She’s the author of the book “The Art of Aging Unapologetically”.

astrid.zeegen – Astrid describes herself as eclectic and an ethical and considered shopper. She exudes confidence and puts together lots of fun outfits.

luinluland – Lou Featherstone is a high-energy, fun-loving women who has led an exciting life. She’s a “menopausal midlife mindset shifter and a positivity rebel” who is delights in growing old disgracefully. She has an extraordinary wardrobe of clothing and accessories and makes you feel excited to get dressed and take some chances.

trinnywoodall – If you’re into more traditional clothing, this account is great to follow for inspiration. Trinny also has an amazing collection of clothing and she tries to include affordable clothing as well as her top-end pieces. She points out mistakes to watch out for, which styles suit which body types and shapes – all very helpful information. I also love watching her Zara shopping trips.

carla.rockmore – Carla is 50+ and has an interesting way of expressing herself through fashion.

Beauty

carolinehirons – Caroline Hirons is my go-to when it comes to anything skincare. She knows her stuff. She’s the author of two books and has recently launched her skincare range – Skinrocks that also has a super helpful phone app that details all things skincare. You’ll learn a lot about skincare and products from this account.

trinnylondon – Trinny Woodall’s skincare and makeup line has lots of great products and this account is also very educational.

alicehartdavis – Alice Hart-Davis gives trusted advice on tweakments, practitioners and how to get the best results. She’s a journalist who has worked and researched this industry extensively and for many years so she knows a lot about all skincare procedures. She also has a brilliant website (The Tweakments Guide).

whoorl – Sarah James is ageing gracefully and posts lots of videos about how to apply makeup effortlessly.

charlotteparler – Charlotte Parlermino knows a lot about skincare and posts lots of interesting content about how skin & skincare works. She doesn’t only cater for the older market, but I feel it’s important to know what we can believe (and why) and what is complete rubbish.

amandaramsaymakeup – Amanda Ramsay is an over 40s makeup expert who gives great advice on how to apply makeup, which products work well at our age etc.

Travelling

midlife.globetrotter – Susan details her midlife travel adventures and has great destination guides and planning tips.

eminchilli – Elizabeth Minchilli lives in Italy and her account features lots of delicious food and the food she eats in all the places she visits.

adventurousmidlifer – Lisa is a Gen X Digital nomad and budget travel pro. She helps midlife women travel on a budget.

hotflashesandboardingpasses – Stacey’s account is all about adventures for midlife women.

Fitness

meetyouatthebarre – Jen Brown is a Barre instructor who empowers women to find joy in life through barre.

amanda.thebe – Amanda Thebe helps women in menopause to get strong and healthy.

heymiddleage – Mimi is 59 and loves to inspire midlife women to move their bodies. She’s a real inspiration to keep up our exercising.

taniadalton – Tania Dalton is a midlife health coach and personal trainer. She empowers post menopausal women to thrive without dieting or using extremes.

Podcasters

acertainagepod – Katie Fogarty has a podcast with the same name and she endeavours to promote ageing out loud. Great follow.

reinventionrebels – Wendy Battles is a self-confessed pro-age rebel. She aims to spread joy and inspire unsure 50+ women to reinvent and reimagine themselves.

lorrainecandy – Lorraine Candy is one half of the podcast, Postcards from Midlife. Being in midlife too, she posts about very relevant midlife topics and is a keen swimmer.

blackgirlsguidetomenopause – This is the Insta account for Omisade Burney-Scott’s podcast Black Girl’s Guide to Surviving Menopause.

Empty nest Instagram accounts

grownandflown – A great account for parents of teens, young adults and university/college students.

mom_inthemoment – This account has some great quotes for parents of young adults.
